While the Apple iPhone 5 faces increasing competition from rival manufacturers like Sony, HTC and Samsung, the device remains one of the most popular smart phones in the world. The success of the iPhone 5 has naturally led to a lot of excitement about what Apple has in store for its next iPhone model.
Obviously, the next iPhone model has been a hot topic in recent months. There has been plenty of rumours and even a number of leaked images of devices purported to be Apple’s as yet unannounced follow-up to the iPhone 5.
While it is expected that an iPhone 5S will be released this year, there have also been rumours of a more affordable iPhone model of hit the market, believed to be called the iPhone Light. Of course, Samsung is Apple’s biggest rival, and owes much of its market share to the huge volumes of budget Android smartphones which sell in huge volumes around the world. It is thought that a more affordable iPhone model will be released in order to compete in this sector of the smartphone market.
Alongside widespread rumours, a number of leaked images of purported iPhone Light handsets have hit the web in recent months. Mashable has recently reported on some of the latest to be leaked. The images show three iPhone handsets, which are clearly not any of the currently available models. The phones are shown in red, yellow and green colour variants, backing up recent rumours of multiple colour variants of the iPhone Light being released. The phones also appear to have a plastic rear panel and identical design to the blue version of the handset which was recently leaked in other images.
Of course, Apple is yet to officially announce its next iPhone model, but with rumours that the device has already entered production, which is backed up by these leaked photos, we expect the device to be launched in Q3, as many previous iPhone models have been.
Because the next instalment of the iPhone series has been a hot topic for several months, we are sure to hear much more information and further rumours about the device in the weeks leading up to its announcement.
