Over the past few months we have been hearing an increasing number of rumours surrounding the new iPhone 5S and its expected late summer release. A new story has emerged however that suggests that we may not ever see this model arrive and in fact the next device that Apple will release will be the iPhone 6 which was originally tipped for 2014.iphone 6

This latest news story has come courtesy of tech publication Stuff who report that they have received an image of an inventory listing from a UK network provider. The network in question is Vodafone and in the listing the model 4G iPhone 6 is listed. This would suggest that the iPhone 6 is the next handset in line to get a release from Apple and not the iPhone 5S as many people expected. It has become tradition for Apple to follow up the release of a new iPhone with an “S” version featuring improved specification but no drastic changes in design. It looks as though the American company are set to break tradition however by unveiling the iPhone 6 as their next flagship model. We must take this latest news with a pinch of salt however, no image was published of the inventory list and it is also common practice for networks to pre empt the release of a new handset before the manufacturers actually confirm the existence of a model.

If this news from Vodafone does prove correct it also suggest that we may see the new iPhone 6 arrive much earlier than normal in the late summer months. Following comments from Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier in the year many of us were led to believe that the usual Autumn release was likely but recently many experts have been predicting that the new model will arrive in July or August following a mass production run beginning in June. Production of the screens is already said to be under way and which ever model arrives it is expected to boast a screen measuring the same 4 inches as can be found on the iPhone 5. Latest reports are suggest that the A6X processor found on the latest iPad will be incorporated in light of the new A7 chip not being ready until 2014.

It looks as though we may never get to see the iPhone 5S and many are suggesting that the iPhone 6 will be the next generation of the device to be released. This is supported by the inventory listing that was leaked from Vodafone UK.
